- Marinetek Designs and Builds Pontoons for a New Marina in Egypt
Suez Canal Sailing Club will service small to medium size yachts on Al Temsah Lake.
After very intensive preparations and design of the most adequate technical solutions, Marinetek was selected for the design, manufacture, and installation of the floating pontoon elements in the first nautical marina in the Suez Canal, on Al Temsah Lake in Egypt. After the completion of the first phase, the Sailing Club in Ismailia will have a capacity of 96 moorings for vessels from 10 to 40 meters long.
A total of 34 concrete Heavy Duty and Breakwater pontoon elements will be produced in Marinetek’s factory in Šibenik, Croatia by the end of May and then transported to Egypt and installed with steel piles in record time.
The investor, the Suez Canal Authority, plans to open the first phase of the marina by the end of June 2023, and in subsequent phases, a modern service center and other related facilities will be built. Marinetek’s partner in this project, Deutschland Technology Ltd, will take over the installation of the entire infrastructure and the management of the project itself.
The project is extremely significant because it will enable smaller yachts to stop and rest in the Suez Canal on their way between the Mediterranean and the Red Sea. With this project, Egypt confirms its orientation towards the further development of nautical tourism.
