- Mega breakwaters ready for Marina Drage
In 2018, elements of pontoon breakwater were delivered to the Port of Saguenay, Quebec, Canada. The largest standard breakwater elements were designed almost two years before actual construction and delivery, with the joint work of Marinetek offices in Šibenik and Helsinki, after which they were tested at institutes in Croatia and Finland. After 4 years, the construction of new megabreakers has just begun, this time for the Croatian market. The elements, which are 6 metres wide, 20 metres long and 2.4 metres high, weigh almost 90 tons and are designed to protect water surfaces in ports and marinas from waves of significant height up to about 1.5 metres. The galvanised steel elements and reinforcements alone weigh nearly 6 tons. Up to 14 new concrete elements will be delivered and installed in the new Marina Drage for about a third of the price of a standard fixed breakwater.
