Azmont Investment
Marina capacity:
238 berths, for yachts up to 70 meters long
Works:
Construction, delivery and installation of 10 new piers with mooring system of piers and vessels, and with complete installation
Budget:
3,25 M€
Year of completion:
2017.
Products:
All Concrete and Heavy Duty pontoons M2400AC, M3000AC, M2700HD, Premier M2500PEH, Super Yacht pontoons M3320SY, M3316SY, M4320SY, M4316SY, Breakwater pontoons M5316BRK, Marinetek mooring fingers.
Extras:
Seaflex mooring system and H beam ‘by side’ systems for pontoons, MED mooring system for yachts. Tailor made Fuel berth with drenage and oil separator system. Tailor made approaching platforms.

Marina has a total of 238 berths for yachts with length from 7 to 70 meters, within a closed basin, with the possibility of accepting yachts of up to 120 meters in length on the outer breakwater. The wide range of different sizes of boats was additional requirements that Marienetek NCP had to answer, and considering our long experience in over 60 similar projects in Croatia and more than 30 in the entire Mediterranean Sea, this was not a big problem for us.

Most of the yachts have berths by floating pontoon jetties. Boats up to 15 meters long has mooring berths by Marinetek fingers, while for larger yachts we offered a standard Mediterranean mooring system. Several types of standard Marinetek pontoon elements have been used for the construction of pontoon jetties, from the largest Super Yacht pontoons of 4 meters in width to 45 tons, up to the latest All-Concrete Heavy Duty pontoon that are 2.5 meters wide. All pontoon elements are jointed by semi-flexible coupling sets with rubber shock absorbers and steel bolts which with the precise design of the elements themselves provide long life time with minimum maintenance operation.

The entire marine aquatorium is protected by solid breakwaters on concrete pilots in order to preserve the natural circulation of the sea through the marina. The entrance to the marina is set up towards the east, or towards Tivat. As an additional protection from the waves, a 180 meter long floating breakwater was built in front of the entrance, made of the Marinetek M5300BRK elements that are 5 meter wide. All concrete pontoon elements were manufactured at the Marinetek NCP production plants in Šibenik, loaded into the floating barge with its own cranes and transported to the construction site in Montenegro. Acceptance of total of 67 pontoon elements with all additional equipment, installation and anchoring all piers with the Seaflex system, as well as the installation of the mooring system for yachts, Marinetek has performed with its installation team, specially certified for Seaflex anchor systems. We also delivered 11 access bridges, 20 km or 11 tons of rope and almost 40 pallets of additional equipment, that are mostly produced by Croatian manufacturers.

Porto Uš, Korčula

Another project for the construction of boat moorings for local population has been successfully implemented, this time in the southern part of the Adriatic sea. It is known that on the entire adriatic coast there is chronic lack of organized berths for small fishing boats and so far not even one county port can confirm that it has fully met the needs of local population. Following the finished projects of county port authorities in Pula, Rabac, Kraljevica, Zadar, Šibenik, Vela Luka and Dubrovnik. County Port Authority of Korcula managed to realize the project of a pontoon communal port for mooring smaller vessels.

New port – Porto Uš, is located southeast of the town of Korčula, and in the protected part of the water area next to the pontoon piers, were about 90 boats up to 12 meters long will find their safe berth. On the outside of the breakwater during the summer season, it will be possible to moor larger vessels in transit, or on a temporary berth. In any case, the locals got another high-quality port for mooring their boats, and any additional berth for boaters during the summer season was more than welcome, as the nearby marinas in Korcula and Lumbarda cannot meet the needs of guests for daily mooring.

The new port consists of a floating breakwater 100 meters long, located vertically to the northeast coast of the port, and two floating piers 60 meters long each, placed in a protected area vertically to the breakwater pier. Access to the breakwater is provided via a bridge from the shore, and the piers are accessed by bridges from the breakwater. The piers are anchored as standard with a system of chains and anchor blocks, and for all moored vessels, a standard four-berth system with two anchor lines for each vessel has been constructed.

Port Saguenay, Canada

Professionally designed by experienced engineers to give the best attenuation performance in their category and offer extreme strength and long maintenance-free service life, the all-new Marinetek KH-series breakwater units are industry giants. Top of the range 6300-series units weighing 86 tons apiece and with 2 x 116 ton flexible connection capacity have recently been manufactured by Marinetek in Croatia and shipped to Saguenay, Quebec to create the biggest Marinetek breakwater in Canada.

The KH-series is the result of nearly 12 months’ R&D including extensive research, design and engineering, and tank tests conducted by VTT Technical Research Centre in Finland, one of the leading companies of its kind in Europe. VTT operates under a mandate from the Ministry of Employment and the Economy and has been offering top-level research and science-based results to private and public sector companies for 75 years. Marinetek, with 35 years’ experience of its founders in the design and production of floating breakwaters, is no stranger in the field but the VTT tested KH-series takes its portfolio to new levels of excellence.

The City of Saguenay set a demanding brief when approaching Marinetek North America in September 2017. City and engineering firms were looking for a floating breakwater system that could remain in the water during the harsh conditions of icy winters and offer protection from aggressive waves and tides during the summer operating season. Daily tides can stretch up to 6.9m (23 feet); water depths vary from 6 to 24m (20 to 80 feet); and waves can reach 2.3m (7.5 feet) high. In addition, the installation has to sit in brackish water with up to a metre of thick ice, and withstand winds up to 34 m/s (75 mph).

86-ton floating breakwater units, measuring 6m (19.6 feet) wide x 20m (65.6 feet) long x 2.4m (7.8 feet) high, were built for the project, which was designed by Marinetek from start to finish. “One of the main challenges was to anchor these immense floating breakwaters in deep water with the large tides,” explained Richard Murray, Marinetek North America Managing Director and Head Engineer. “After reviewing all the design criteria and site conditions, we decided to use heavy duty steel chain with massive anchor blocks on the longer section and large steel vertical H-beams along the seawall for the shorter section.”

The breakwater units were shipped from Marinetek’s Croatian factory to Canada, towed to the project site and installed in August 2018 using 80 concrete sinkers and chains. Four vertical steel H-beams were secured to the seawall. Removing large, heavy breakwater units from the water in winter is a process to be avoided and the City of Saguenay is delighted and relieved to have a high performance floating attenuator that can stay in position whatever the weather. A
spokesperson confirmed that the City is very pleased with the system and described the new breakwater as “beautiful and attenuating the waves wonderfully.” “This was a tremendous project to premier our KH-series,” Murray noted. “We feel very proud of the quality and strength of these massive units and their ability to offer high levels of protection in a very changeable and aggressive environment.”

Marinetek is a leading designer and turnkey builder of yacht marinas and floating structures that is well known for its large concrete pontoons and ability to undertake wide-ranging projects worldwide. The company has an impressive track record with over 2,000 reference projects in four continents.

NCP marina Mandalina

NCP Marina Mandalina is the first marina in Croatia with a special area equipped exclusively for mega yachts. Development of the marina started in 2006 by setting three piers with 180 standard berths. The marina project has been developing comparatively with the development of marina itself and with the expansion of the concession area. With a final built stage the marina has 450 berths, of which 80 berths can accommodate vessels from 25 to 80 meters in length. In construction of the marina it was used the most modern technology and equipment. Most of the equipment was for the first time installed in Croatia, so we have a good reason to say that this is certainly marina with the best overall technical equipment on the Adriatic. In 2011, during the construction, marina was awarded with the prestigious 5 anchors by evaluation from the British Association of the marinas.

Marina was built in naturall and quite well protected aquatorium of Šibenik port. The biggest challenge of the project was the great depth and layout for anchoring piers and large vessels. Total of 8 floating piers were formed mainly from Heavy Duty concrete pontoons type M3315HDS with a width of 3 meters, which sets a new standard in the development of marinas in Croatia. Used as protection from south and as a natural dam towards Šibenik shipyard the south pier is formed from breakwater elements type 3820BRS. From the same elements were formed T protective breakwaters at the end of pier. Weighing 40 tons and with a width of 4 meters the seventh pier in front of the main reception, was formed from breakwater elements type M4320BRK, partly to protect southern part of the marina from the northern and western winds and partly to provide a safe berth for 32 vessels up to 35 meters, on both side of the pier. Out of these heavy elements it was built a north breakwater, that way protecting the aquatorium of the marina from the northern and nortwestern winds. In total, 8 piers were formed out of 94 Marinetek concrete floating pontoons.

The depth at the end of piers is from 25 to 28 meters and the average depth in the marina is more than 15 m. Because of the great depth, for the first time on the Adriatic it is used Seaflex anchor element. A total of 164 Seaflex anchor elements holds all piers in place with exceptional security and stability, even during strongest wings, with minimal lateral shifting.

Likewise, due to a great depth, in the southern part of the marina is not used usual quarter mooring or Mediterranean anchoring system with two anchor rope per bow. With piers we installed 150 steel fingers forming so called “boxes” for two vessels. All vessels in the marina have their right spot, they do not touch each other, and the mooring is secured by stern to pontoon and with bow on finger. The access to vessel is enabled through the stern and over the side. No more dirty and shelfish bow moorings which need to be tightened at the bow. Now the access to the vessel is easy for even the most inexperienced skippers, no tangle of ropes to other keels, or in your own rope with propeller when docking or leaving the pier…..Maintenance of the mooring equipment is simple and marina crews and yacht users are very satisfied with this kind of solution.

Supply of electricity and water is secured for each berth with appropriate connectors. Rolec (UK) and Plus Marine (Italy) service cabinets provide enough energy for each vessel. Electricity supply is organized according to consumption for each connection, with prepaid system. Terminals with the three phase current from 63 to 600 Amp are provided in the northern part of the marina. The bearing capacity of steel bollard on the shore is up to 250 kN, and along the northern breakwater is set pump out system for discharging of waste water from the vessels.

Monaco, Port Hercule

Port Hercule, positioned in a well protected natural bay with some of the deepest water on the French Riviera, is a magnet for the sleek and the chic. When you think Monaco, you also think of the on-site Monaco Yacht Show and the Monaco Grand Prix, whose iconic Formula 1 course and famous chicane runs virtually on top of the quay wall. As such, Port Hercule soaks up media attention, and enjoys an influx of ever larger luxury boats whose owners are eager to see and be seen.

The Marinetek solution becomes the fourth pontoon system it has been delivered for Ports de Monaco, replacing a 6m wide x 64m long ‘U Pontoon’ installed in 2010. The old U Pontoon is relocated to Port Fontvieille, which is the second marina in Monaco. The new U Pontoon will be an eye-catcher – positioned slightly further west of the stunning Yacht Club de Monaco and, at 120m, nearly double the length of its predecessor.

The U Pontoon was manufactured by Marinetek Adriatic using six 5m wide x 20m long Super Yacht floating concrete pontoons secured with exceptionally large sinker anchors for strong, stable asymmetrical mooring; all 13 available yacht berths (6 x 50m, 1 x 40m, 5 x 30m and 1 x 18m) are on one side. Two separate 80m berths run alongside but are not connected to the pontoon.

“It will be a great asset for Port Hercule,” commented Daniel Realini, Deputy Executive Director of Ports de Monaco. “We are very pleased to be working with Marinetek again as we’ve been very happy with the quality and performance of our existing pontoons and with the after sales service and support. I look forward to seeing visiting boats moored up at U Pontoon in the early summer.”

Marina Vukovar

The contract for conducting works on the construction of communal port „ Marina“ was concluded in June 2018 between Port Authority Vukovar and Marinetek Adriatic , Hidrogradnja from Osijek and Grasa from Zagreb. The project of construction of a communal port is foreseen to construct a pier on the main stream of the Danube River, directly downstream from the river Vuka, where the moorings for 140 vessels of up to 12 meters length is formed.

The mooring of the vessel is provided along both sides of the main pontoon gate located parallel to a coastline of 265 meters, divided into 4 segments and connected by associated gangways. At the 70 ° point on the longitudinal axis, the ‘fingers’ have been installed on the longitudinal axis, with transverse structures with floats, for the mooring of boats on both sides.

The second pontoon gate, which is 60 meters long, is set up as a protection from the debris and iceberg, and also serves as a base for a 27.5 meter long bridge.

Since the marina is located on the Danube River itself, with over six meters water oscillations, it was necessary to design and implement an adequate and secure anchorage of the entire structure. The pontoon installation was performed by setting 27 steel pilots with an outer diameter of 508mm and a thickness of 25mm. The pilots are made of special steel S355JR on the outside of corrosion-proof material, while the inside of the pilot is filled with concrete for added strength. The total height of the pilot is 23.6 meters, and in the bottom of the river are dug at height over 12 meters. The pontoons are mounted on pilots with special clamps with sliding elements to ensure unobstructed lifting and lowering of the gates at maximum loads.

This is the first installment of Marinetek ponton elements using steel pilots in Croatia, and the entire project has been completed in just three winter months, to the satisfaction of contractors and investors. It is certain that the port will be used by all the citizens of the town of Vukovar and the surrounding places that have boats and other vessels, and with the built breakwater and promenade this will give a whole new look to this part of the city.

Marina Lazure

Hotel and marina Lazure located in Meljine, about 2 km east from Herceg Novi, is offering a magnificent view of the entrance to the bay of Kotor. The russian company, Imperio Holdings ltd, has taken over the task of reconstructing the old Lazaret – building of medievel maritime quarantine, and arranging a small communal port in front of the Lazaret. During the development of the project, investor has certainly preserved the original appearance and architecture of this historical complex, and improved it into exceptional facility of the highest category. The small harbor and fixed breakwater are protected cultural monuments and have been preserved in their original form. Around the harbor itself, the investor has formed a new marina with 220 berths protected by new stone breakwater. Compliance with the requirements of the restorer and maritime domain, and the complexity of the construction of breakwater itself, delayed the completion of the marina almost until the end of 2019. Marina has a full function in early 2020.

During project development, in several phases Marinetek has delivered total of 33 Heavy Duty pontoons (width 2.7m, 3m and 4m) to form a 7 inner piers, and 4 breakwater elements (5 m wide) to secure additional protection of the entrance to the waters of marina. The inner piers are anchored with chains, and the outer pier, which is 4 m wide and is intended for the largest vessles up to 30 m long, as well as the floating breakwater, are anchored with Seaflex elements. A standard quadruple berth is provided for anchoring yachts.

Extremely large tourist resorts, Porto Montenegro in Tivat and Portonovi in Kumbor, are being built near the Lazure complex, which significantly surpass Lazure in size and luxury. However, the extremely beautifully renovated and decorated complex of the medieval Lazaret with an attractive wellness center and swimming pools, and an attractive boutique marina, will surely find its regular users and a place on the new nautical map of Montenegro.

“The breakwater is essentially a small mountain, most of which is under water. The widht of our pier at the bottom is approx. 45 m, and depth in this part of water area is from 8 to 13 meters. The bottom is covered with extremely thick layer of mud, so quite demanding and complicated works have been performed. In a similar way it is built a breakwater – a mole on the shipyard, which is one of the biggest attractions of Herceg Novi. Hopfully, our marina will eventually become one also – Ana Martynova, director of Imperio Holdings ltd.

Marina Kornati

Marina Kornati in Biograd is one of the first and certainly the most important nautical subjects on Croatian coast. Back in 1974, the company Iliria dd built the first nautical port in Croatia, today’s hotel port from which systematically began to develop nautical tourism throughout the Adriatic, and is rightly took the name of the pioneers of nautical tourism, and the city Biograd became the cradle of nautical tourism . Hotel harbor over time has become too small for current needs of boaters, and Illyria Inc. realizing the enormous potential and the importance of yachting tourism on the development of the town at the sea and its overall impact, in 1985 built a new Marina Kornati, with an additional 450 berths.

Today, Marina Kornati is a true center of nautical tourism in northern Dalmatia. Capacity of marina is over 750 berths, with the appropriate service center and restaurants. Annually, marina hosts over 40 sailing regattas and events, boat show in October and about 300 charter boats in various charter agancies.

After almost thirty years, management of marina and Ilirija dd made the decision for significant reconstruction of the maritime part of marina and the adaptation for new and modern business conditions in nautical tourism.
Stable concrete piers were demolished and replaced with new highest – quality floating concrete pontoon piers. The width of piers and distance between them are carefully determined in order to accept a new and larger vessels. The entire infrastructure was changed, as well as all access piers, the electrical energy and water supply installations and fire-fightning equipment. Old concrete service cabinets were replaced with new stainless steel cabinets with modern look.

Demolition works on piers C1, C2, C3 and C4 began immediately after signing the contract, in mid of November 2015, and the completion of installation of 3 completly new floating pontoon piers were completed by the Christmas of that year. Phase 1B, which refers to the replacement of piers B6 nad B7 (piers in front of the restaurants,) was completed as agreed – in late February 2016. Phase two will include the replacement of piers B1 to B5 (North marina) and works will take place in period from November 2016 till February 2017.

Of course this is not all we need to mention. Marina Kornati announced a major development plans for the future, in which our company again will give it`s contribution …

Marinetek was given a duty that in a very short period of time, in a few winter months and in a several phases, demolish and rehabilitate existing concrete piers, produce and anchor new floating pier and implement completely new infrastructure. Explicit request of the investor was that the “main activity of marina can not stop”, so that all works were performed simultaneously, pier by pier, moving vessels from the marina from the old piers to new ones. This extremely demanding organizational task Marinetek has done in cooperation with BSK commerce from Rijeka, Rc Neptun from Šibenik and Marex elektrostroj from Zadar.

Marina Agana

At the end of January Marinetek NCP began with production of floating pontoons for complete reconstruction of A, B, C and V piers of marina Agana in Marina. This marina has 134 berths divided into 6 piers of a total length of 470m which are equipped to accommodate a boat up to a maximum length of 25m. Marina Agana is located in the central part of Dalmatia, halfway between the Split and Sibenik county centers, on the very bottom of the marina bay and offers a safe and peaceful place with a lot of content that gives boaters a comfortable stay.

Due to the dilapidation of all pontoon elements and equipment, Marinetek has replaced all existing floating piers with new concrete continuous elements, type M3012AC and M3015AC with additional equipment, cleats, wooden bumpers and access bridges. In addition to the replacement of the complete pontoon system, in cooperation with the company Dubina engineering from Split and Elektrolux TS from Šibenik, installation of anchoring systems of piers and vessels, and the construction of a new water supply network and electrical installation were also carried out.

For the anchoring requirements, along with standard concrete anchor blocks, in smaller depths we used geotechnical anchors with required capacity not to jeopardize the required boat gauges The specificity is also the anchoring system of pier “V” which is placed in parallel line with the mound-breakwater and anchored by a system of steel galvanized carriers (“hands”) and with diagonal inox cables to take over the longitudinal forces. Steel supports are fastened on land with pre-made concrete reinforcements, and on pontoon with special acceptors whose anchoring is performed during the production of pontoon elements.

For the anchoring system of vessels we used standard quarter mooring. In line with the needs of the planned vessels and the existing network capacities, a new project for electricity distribution on the piers was created. Also, new service cabinets (type Tango) with adequate connections were installed.

Marinetek performed all the work in accordance with the agreement and provided timely installation of all pontoon elements. Considering that during the construction of the marina’s construction works marina was completely filled with vessels on an annual basis, we provided the installation of all piers successively, with measures of increased precaution and safety at the site of installation and with minimal restriction of regular activities in the marina.

Boduli Rijeka – Superyacht pier

At the beginning of summer 2014 Marinetek NCP performed an installation od anchoring blocks and soon after installation of floating pier in Rijeka port. This is the project of Port Authority Rijeka and 4,3 M kn worth investment, whose main goal is to increase the capacity of the mooring. Works on construction and installation of piers are successfully done by Marinetek NCP and BSK Commerce from Rijeka, whose joint offer was selected in public proceedings issued by Port Authority.

The 80 m long floating pier is made of four breakwater pontoons type M3820BRS, each of which is nearly twenty meters long and three and a half meters wide, and should increase capacity of the mooring in the harbour for about 50%.
Pier is bounded for massive coastal construction with cross chain link with inserted inox/rubber spring inserted in order to prevent larger movement of the piers. Pontoons are equipped with access bridges, cleats and service cabinets with double water and electricity plugs. On client`s request all pontoons have rubber fenders.

Anchoring system consists of crossed-anchored lines made with Seaflex system, anchored to massive blocks of 99 tons, which will enable safe mooring of large vessels even during poor weather condition.

The basic purpose of new built pier and mooring system is the acceptance of popular tourist sailing boats during summer months. Namely, these sailing boats usually bind to coats Boduli in Rijeka port and the problem was that the coast wasn`t long enough so sailboats had to bind to each other. For the rest of the year, these berths are intended for mega yachts. Anchoring system provides safe berths during winter months, for 9 yachts up to 35 m long and 5 yachts up to 5 m long, as well as for vessels of Police Deparment, Port Authority and Harbour Master.
